Trevor Howley: Out with a broken ankle

Mayo centre-back Trevor Howley has been ruled out of the Connacht SFC semi-final clash with either Sligo or London on June 22 after breaking his ankle in a challenge match on Sunday.

However, Mayo manager John O’Mahony is hopeful that the Knockmore clubman will recover in time for a potential Connacht final on July 13.

“Trevor picked up a broken ankle and will be out of football for some time,” O’Mahony said.

“It looks almost certain that he will meet the semi-final meeting with Sligo.

“All we can hope is that Trevor can come back quickly and be ready to stake a claim for a place in the team after the Sligo game,” the Mayo boss added.

Setanta readers' comment of the day

“Hull have now beaten Arsenal and Tottenham and the press continues to focus on how bad Spurs and Arsenal were during the games. The focus should of been on how great Hull City have been and the discipline they have shown since moving into The Premiership. Phil Brown is a perfect example of a coach with good man-management skills as he gets the best out of every player. Well done Hull City!”
