Nakamura nears fitness

Celtic midfielder Shunsuke Nakamura will take a massive step towards first team action in the Scottish Cup next week against Stirling Albion.

The Japanese playmaker could also feature in the reserve clash next Tuesday against Gretna, which may also feature new boy Andreas Hinkel in a Celtic jersey for the first time.

“I did some light ball work earlier this week,” Nakamura said in the Scottish Sun. “But I need to do more cardiovascular work to build up my stamina.

“While my stamina has dropped, I haven’t forgotten how to kick the ball. I’m aiming to return for the cup game against Stirling Albion.”

Celtic are also believed to be on the point of snatching John Murray from Hearts to work alongside Tommy Burns and John Park at Lennoxtown.

Murray, who runs the Hearts youth academy, will be a major loss to the Edinburgh side as he is credited with rearing a host of young players for the club in recent times.

Setanta readers' comment of the day

“Hull have now beaten Arsenal and Tottenham and the press continues to focus on how bad Spurs and Arsenal were during the games. The focus should of been on how great Hull City have been and the discipline they have shown since moving into The Premiership. Phil Brown is a perfect example of a coach with good man-management skills as he gets the best out of every player. Well done Hull City!”
